Hey guys, Dr. Brian here again. And we’re going to talk about three of the most common and most disruptive types of headaches that you can suffer from how to tell the difference between them and give you a better sense of what type of headache it is that may be affecting you.
If You Have These Symptoms Seek Help Immediately
Now, before we get into that, there are a few things that you should take note of things to really be aware of. If you’ve got any of these things together with your headache, that’s something that could require urgent medical attention. So if you’re suffering from slurred speech, blurry vision, a high fever, paralysis in any part of your body, vomiting or nausea, any of those things can be a sign of serious problems, and you should seek help as soon as possible.
The 3 Most Common Types of Headaches
Tension headaches, Cluster headaches, and Migraine headaches, those are the three types of we’ll look at.
Tension Headaches
A tension headache will normally be diffused, that means it’s spread around your head, it can be in a band around your head as well. There may be soreness or tenderness at the shoulders or neck as well. And they’re often associated with stress. Those are tension headaches.
Cluster Headaches
Cluster headaches are called cluster headaches because they occur bunched up together in groups of symptomatic episodes, followed by periods of no symptoms at all. You may have one to four headaches per day, during an episode of cluster headaches with each episode lasting 15 minutes to three hours. And that can go on for a few months. So again, 15 minutes to three hours per headache, one to four headaches per day lasting for a span of a few months, we’re talking about cluster headaches there, and that’ll be followed by a period of dormancy or no symptoms at all. Unfortunately, the medical world isn’t able to tell us what causes cluster headaches. And that is a frustrating fact of life with those.
Migraine Headaches
Migraine headaches come together with other symptoms. Symptoms. Nausea and vomiting are two of the more common ones. And then there’s the aura. That’s the feeling that a person who suffers from these sorts of headaches often has before the event begins that lets them know that it’s coming. There may be a hereditary component to migraines.
And those are three of the most common types of headaches, Cluster, Tension, and Migraine. So take a look. Check into your symptoms. Remember those things we mentioned at the top if you’re suffering any of those, goes see your doctor.
