Hey guys, Dr. Brian here. Let’s talk about vertigo. One of the main types most common types of vertigo is what’s called BPPV. That’s Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, just remember BPPV.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
Fortunately, in the year 1980, Mr. John Eppley, he found a technique. It’s called the Epley maneuver. And it’s really, really helpful when it comes to helping stop the dizziness and vertigo and symptoms caused by BP PV. This type of protocol is caused by little bits of calcium collecting deep inside your inner ear. And so by moving the head and your body through a series of different positions, he found a way to remove those calcium crystals from deep inside the year, thus allowing your body to come back into a state of balance and ease and normalcy getting rid of the dizziness and the Epley maneuver. Part of the thing that’s so great about it. And I mean, great. We’re talking like a 90% success rate in terms of getting rid of the symptoms of vertigo, it can be done at home, or it can be done in the office with a professional, it’s really, really simple. Look just down below this video here or in the area and you’re going to find a list of the steps. They’re very, very clear. They’re very, very simple.
The Epley Maneuver is Effective Vertigo Treatment
It’s just a matter of putting yourself in the right position, holding it for 30 seconds per time, and then given yourself some time to rest afterwards, you’ll probably need to repeat the Epley maneuver two or maybe three times in order for your symptoms to go away. In rare cases, particularly with older folks, it may take a little bit longer for the dizziness to resolve, but it should work and it should work. Well. It’s very, very easy to do the Epley maneuver for getting rid of the symptoms of BPPV and you can do it at home.
